Description: A pleasant and likeable pleo. A small guy in a big and wonderful world. Laid-back, but as an earlier
prototype, doesn't quite see things the same way as everybody else. And running, perhaps, a not fully
debugged operating system. But then again, who is? Bob tends to think of things as to how they relate
to food first.
Bob has a pet cow named "Moo", and owns a yellow and blacked striped
Yugo, not that he can drive . . . He loves pizza, and hanging out with Sally at Fred's
Bob As a knight of the realm of Pleopia, Bob rules over the small fiefdom of Weedovia (full article),
Which consists of a small castle and neighboring town.
Bob does his best to do his part and protect the interests of his fiefdom's populace as a member of the
House of Lords, but as politics go, Bob doesn't get involved much. He's much more likely to be found
hanging out at the pizza parlor than in his castle, and the only court he holds in the castle grounds
goes by the name of "tennis". And even though Bob is a knight, he has no military intentions. And while
not strictly a pacifist Bob believes that "where ever it is within your power, live at peace will all."
In the immortal words of Bill and Ted (if you have to ask, don't bother), "Be excellent to everone.
And party on!"
I picked the name "Bob" because it was short, simple, and seems intrisically funny. When you hear the
phrase "Hi, Bob!" I immediately think of the great comic Bob Newhart. Actually, selecting the name Bob came
as a surprise to family members who assumed I would name him Fred. And it didn't even occur to me until
months later when someone pointed out that the strip Dilbert already had a "Bob the dinosaur" character.
Now, when I switched the name of the strip to "Bob the Pleo", I did think about "Bob the Squirrel" by Frank
Page and "Spot the Frog" by Mark Heath. Both very good comic strips. Bob just seemed to fit. And I used
"Fred" for another character dear to my heart, the Santa Claus disguised as a pizza shop owner.
